Women’s Entrepreneurship Day celebrated

LAHORE - The Kashf Foundation celebrated International Women’s Entrepreneurship Day by lauding the achievements of its clients through an award ceremony held on Thursday for the most successful women entrepreneurs.
November 17–21 has been marked as International Entrepreneurs. The International Women’s Entrepreneurship Day an opportunity to celebrate, engage and empower female entrepreneurs.
In the ceremony Former Law Minister Barrister Shahida Jamil and a panel of development experts comprising of First Secretary Development Government of Canada Ms. Leslie Tinney, CEO of the Punjab Skill Development Fund Ali Sarfaraz and CEO of Selar Enterprises Sadia Khan discussed the role of finance, development assistance, and skills development in empowering women entrepreneurs.
Salma Kanwal, who is one of the United Nations Ambassadors for International Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, also recognised at the event and briefed the participants about her achievements in expanding her business through capital support and training opportunities provided by Kashf Foundation.
Founder and Managing Director Kashf Foundation Roshaneh Zafar said that Kashf had cumulatively disbursed over 2.5 million loans since its inception and trained over 800,000 women in financial education.
Kashf currently has 229,000 active female clients and is currently providing micro-health insurance to over 95,000 low-income individuals. She maintained that Kashf worked through a nation-wide network of 180 branches.
