Representatives from WB’s MIGA visit PBIT

LAHORE (PR): Representatives from World Bank’s Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) visited Punjab Board of Investment and Trade to explore new avenues and discuss business opportunities in Punjab.
Chief Executive Officer PBIT, Jahanzeb Burana briefed the delegation regarding the functioning of PBIT, the facilitation it provides to entire business community in all concerned areas that are hampering growth. He apprised the delegation about ongoing developmental projects in a range of sectors including health, pharma, automobiles, agriculture, construction, energy, and infrastructure, to enhance trade and investments in the region.
To discuss the mutually beneficial areas of collaboration, Jahanzeb Burana highlighted Punjab’s potential to attract investors particularly focusing on Special Economic Zones as well as advice on the feasibility of the specific projects. In addition, the existence and performance of the automobile industry in Pakistan was discussed as well as how increased further investment in this industry could help automobile consumers in Punjab.
While talking about CPEC, he emphasized that investment momentum has improved multi folds in Punjab largely because of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the countries like Malaysia, Germany, Turkey and South Korea are looking at Punjab as their next investment destination.
The four member delegation from MIGA included Kate Wallace, Senior Environmental and Social Development Specialist, Nkemjika Onwuamaegbu, Senior Underwriter, Persephone Economou, Research Officer, Jonathan Ettinger, Operation Analyst. These members represented operations, agribusiness & general services and economics and sustainability departments at MIGA.
The delegates were highly appreciative of the working of PBIT, creating strong business relations between the business communities and urged for greater information sharing on specific investment opportunities and the investment policies implemented in Punjab. CEO PBIT expressed his gratitude for MIGA’s continued keen interest in exploring investment opportunities in Punjab and said he hoped for sustained future partnership in making Punjab a lucrative investment market.

25th Palmolive Sindh Women’s Swimming Championship

KARACHI (PR): The milestone silver jubilee of Palmolive Sindh Women’s Swimming Championship drew to a close as excited crowds and energized swimmers celebrated creating new records for 2017.
Organised by Karachi Women’s Swimming Association (KWSA) & sponsored by Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) for 25 years, the competition was a great success and attracted winning talent. With 64 events held over the course of two days, the Silver Jubilee of the Palmolive Sindh Women’s Swimming Championship created 24 new records, setting the bar high for next year’s competitors.
The final prize distribution ceremony was a moment of glory for many competitors who worked hard to set new records. The guests were not only impressed by the performance of the participants, but also applauded KWSA for their continuous efforts to promote female sports in Pakistan.
Zulfiqar Lakhani, MD of Colgate-Palmolive Pakistan, also graced the occasion with his presence.
