PESHAWAR -  Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the JUI-F was not against Fata reforms but wanted the tribesmen to be taken on board in making any decision about future of the Tribal Areas.

The Fata-KP merger is deliberately being made an issue, which is regrettable, he said, adding, that Fata belonged to the tribal people.

He was addressing Ulema conference in Bannu on Monday.

Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said that the JUI-F was playing a lead role in the country’s politics, adding, “Without the JUI-F, it is impossible to form government at Centre or provinces”.

He maintained that the JUI-F had always faced challenges, stating, “JUI-F is blamed for being friendly with the present government, which is totally wrong, as we actually act wisely, because we want to see democracy flourishing in the country”.

He said that he had no personal enmity with the PTI, but he thought that it was working on a foreign agenda stating that the PTI had attacked the country’s civilisation and culture.
