Park named after Malala in Spain

According to BierzoTV, boys and girls of the CRA of Cubillos del Sil have inaugurated, with a plaque and a song, the name with which the park located next to the School of Music, Malala Makai, is designated in Cubillos del Sil, a village in Spain.

The mayor of Cubillos del Sil, Antonio Cuellas, has highlighted this initiative that started from the school itself after an activity carried out two years ago related to the International Women's Day, "It has been an appropriate designation for a space that is used by children for leisure and recreation," said Cuellas. The Mayor reminded the children of the difficulties that Malala went through in her home country, Pakistan, to study, and the attack he suffered in 2012 for his determination to attend school and receive an education in equality. Later she was recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, when she was 17 years old.

The teacher of the CRA Cubillos del Sil, Laura Riesco, has been very satisfied that this initiative has been created that has started from the children themselves. He recalled that two years ago they found no street with the name of a woman so they wrote to the City Council a letter to ask for a space. The consistory responded and invited the children of the school to know the municipal facilities and to propose the name of a woman to designate a street or a public space.

Malala Yousafzai was shot by TTP in Swat when she was returning from her school. She was taken to CMH from where she was sent to London for further medical treatment.

After the attack, TTP spokesperson Ehsan Ullah Ehsan also accepted the responsibility of the attack, saying that Malala was a ‘Western minded girl’.

TTP threatened for more attacks on her if she came back to Swat.
