Karachi - Sindh Assembly’s session was adjourned on Monday soon after the prayers break in respect of the second death anniversary of former Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
The proceedings once again started, but behind schedule, with Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza in the chair.
During the prayers, the PML-F lawmaker Nusrat Sehar Bano prayed to Allah (The Almighty) to give guidance to those who labelled Friday as Black Friday to sell their products.
Prayers were also offered for the departed souls of Pakistan Army men, Khairpur incident victims and journalist Rasheed Rajar.
Soon after the prayers, former minister for parliamentary affairs Sikander Mandhro asked the chair to postpone the session till the next day as most of the MPAs had to go to Hala to attend the event to be held on the second death anniversary of Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
The House was adjourned by the deputy speaker till Tuesday morning.
Later talking to media outside the assembly, Opposition Leader in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan said that Makhdoom Amin Fahim was a respectable person and an asset for the nation. “Instead of adjourning the session, it would have been better to discuss different aspects of his political struggle,” he suggested.
Debate on his struggle should be a part of assembly’s agenda today so that the lawmakers could learn from his struggle, he said.
Responding to PPP leader Saeed Ghani’s statement about making a clean sweep in elections from Karachi, Khawaja Izhar said that just like Manzoor Wassan, Ghani had the same disease of seeing dreams, but unfortunately his dream of capturing Karachi would never come true.
He said that the PPP should take care of its voters in interior Sindh as people had started to revolt against the party in rural areas due to its worst policies that had not benefitted the poor.
“The revolt will be from inside the PPP and it would be evident in upcoming general elections,” he predicted.
He said that how could PPP boast of serving the people when children in its Thar constituency were dying due to malnutrition.
“Children there even do not have clean drinking water facilities,” he said, and added that these stats were shameful for a party that had been ruling people in rural areas for years.
