SADIQABAD-Students at Govt Maktab School Awami Colony lack requisite facilities for education since long.
This correspondent conducted a survey which reveals that the school consists of two classrooms and a corridor only. The school lacks furniture and students find no other way but to study on the floor in the prevailing cold weather.
During the survey, parents of students told this correspondent that they are concerned about security of their children as there is no watchman employed by the school management. Besides, there is worst cleanliness on the school premises due to absence of gardener and sanitary staff. “This is the only school in much populated area where as many as 225 students are enrolled to Class III,” locals told The Nation. Locals including Ali, Elahi Bakhsh, Nadeem Zia, Shafiq, Ahmad Deen, Farhat Ali and Yousuf demanded Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Provincial Education Minister Rana Mashhood and the Commissioner Bahawalpur take notice of the situation and order officials concerned to resolve the problems students have been faced with.
