KARACHI - A suspected street criminal allegedly wanted to the police in at least three murders was killed during an exchange of fire with the police in Surjani Town neighbourhood on Monday.

A suspected street criminal was killed during an exchange of fire with the police in Surjani Town neighbourhood. Police officials said that the encounter took place near Zero-Point area in Surjani Town, adding that the encounter took place when the police raided at his possible hideout.

His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was later identified as Hassan Shah. Police officials said that the robber killed was wanted to the police in number of cases of crime, adding that he had been killed two men and a woman over offering resistance on robbing bids in Surjani Town locality.

The police also claim to have recovered arms and a motorcycle from his possession. The case has been registered while further investigation was underway.

Separately, Rangers claim to have arrested at least six suspects including a political worker and a Lyari gangster during ongoing separate raids in parts of a metropolis. According to Rangers spokesperson, an accused namely Mohsin Mirza was arrested during a raid conducted in Jamshed Town area, adding that the accused arrested belonged to Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London and was involved in several cases of crime including getting extortion money from the builders.

In another raid, the paramilitary force also claimed to have arrested an accused Allah Buksh during a raid conducted in Saudabad area. Rangers’ spokesperson said that the accused arrested was belonged to Lyari gang war and was in various cases of crime and gang war.

Three more suspects who were later identified as Faisal alias Faizi, Aqib Baloch and Karman were arrested during separate raids conducted by Rangers in Landhi and Gulshan-e-Iqbal localites. Rangers spokesperson said that the suspects arrested were involved in various cases of street crimes, especially deprivaing citizens from their cellphones and motorcycles.

Meanwhile, anther accused namely Fahim Ahmed was arrested by Rangers in Landhi area. Rangers spokesperson said that the accused was involved in setting the vehicles on fire. The Rangers also claim to have recovered arms and ammunitions from their possession. The suspects, however, were later handed over to the police.
