Online vehicle tax system soon

PESHAWAR - The Excise and Taxation Department Director General Arshad Khan has said an online credit-card system for the collection of motor-vehicle taxes would soon be introduced to facilitate business community. A tax facilitation desk would also be established at Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He expressed these views in a meeting held with SCCI president Afan Aziz, and vice president Ziaul Haq here on Thursday. On the occasion, leaders of business community, industrialists, traders and the chamber executive body members were also present.
Addressing on the occasion, Aziz informed him about the reservations of business community over the collection of professional, property taxes and registration of vehicles. He said that Excise Department should play its due role for extending full cooperation to business community and demanded to immediately stop manhandling and torturing traders in the name of property and professional taxes.
The business community elders were also expressed grave concern over the treatment of Punjab Excise department with the vehicles bearing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa number plates, and demanded of the government to take up issue with the relevant authorities.
Arshad said that the department has designed a comprehensive strategy for taking all the stakeholders, particularly business community in confidence to resolve their genuine issues on priority basis. He stressed the need for close liaison and coordination between department and the business community to take up all outstanding issues on priority basis.
He also asked the SCCI leaders to come up with solid proposals and recommendations that are more workable to address their issues.  He also assured that they will try level best to resolve all their issues with mutual consensus and on priority basis.
He announced that the department will be established a tax-facilitation desk in the chamber to provide one-widow facility to business community.
