Open Murree Road or face blockage of Double Road, warn traders

Rawalpindi - The incensed traders of Faizabad have asked the district administration to remove containers and open the Murree Road for public or else face blockage of Double Road.

“The district government should open Murree Road by 2pm today (Wednesday) or else we will close Double Road by erecting barricades,” said the representatives of Anjuman-e-Tajran Faizabad while addressing the protestors on Tuesday.

A large number of traders staged a protest demonstration against the district government for blocking Murree Road with containers and chanted slogans against Commissioner Rawalpindi Division and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Talat Mehmood Gondal and other police high ups. Criticizing the government for failing to take action against the protestors of Tehreek-e-Labaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYR), the representatives of businessmen complained that businesses in Faizabad are facing huge losses due to closures of roads.  They urged the government to sack federal law minister Zahid Hamid and other ministers involved in making an attempt to amend the declaration of Khatam-e-Nabuwat for electoral candidates.

On the other hand, the activists of various religious parties are visiting the sit-in at Faizabad Interchange to express solidarity with the protestors.

Talking to media, TLYR Rawalpindi Ameer Syed Inayat Ul Haq Shah said a large numbers of rallies of protestors have arrived at Faizabad from Rahim Yar Khan, Hazro, Charsada and KPK led by Alhamdolillah Aini. He said the participants of sit-in have also begun making preparations to celebrate Jashan-e-Eid Milad-Un-Nabi (SAW) at Faizabad.
