Maryam tipped for Punjab CM slot

LAHORE - After the announcement of Shehbaz Sharif as candidate for PM in upcoming elections, the PML-N quarters Friday named Maryam Nawaz as party candidate for the Punjab chief minister.

Maryam has proved her political worth before and after the by-election in NA-120 – the seat won by her mother Kalsoom Nawaz after the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif as PM in the Panama Papers case.

She has become a helping hand of Nawaz and developed a good liaison with the Punjab parliamentarians to guide them on development and public welfare projects.

Party sources said Maryam is being named by the party quarters as a strong candidate for the Punjab CM. They said some senior members of the party also formally proposed her name for the provincial leader. However, a formal announcement will be made in due course of time.

Also, Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with his party workers at Jatti Umra and reviewed arrangements for his public meeting in Kot Momen on December 31. Sources say Nawaz asked the workers to let the public know what injustice was done to him.
