PTI tsunami sweeps in members as more join

LAHORE – Veteran leaders of the PML-N and PML-Q, Rao Qaiser Ali Khan, Ajmal Cheema, Akmal Cheema along with their supporters announced to join the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf on Thursday.
During a meeting with PTI chief, Imran Khan at his residence former PML-N parliamentarian from Depalpur Rao Qaiser Ali Khan, PML-Q’s former provincial minister Ajmal Cheema, ex-district nazim Sialkot Akmal Cheema made the announcement. Some former ticket holders of PML-N and PPP belonging to Rahim Yar Khan and other areas of south Punjab also joined the PTI on this occasion.
While talking to the media, Imran Khan claimed that the PTI tsunami was felt across the south Punjab during party’s recent mass contact campaign, while another wave would be witnessed in Sialkot on Friday (today) during party’s moot regarding mass contact drive.
He said that traditional political forces feared the popularity graph of the PTI and were labeling him as an establishment agent and Jewish lobby, however the masses would decide in the next elections that Imran Khan and his party men were the true agents of the people.
Claiming that PTI would purge the politics of dynastic trends, Imran Khan said that they were going to launch a mass membership drive from March 25, which would be followed by intra-party polls.
Meanwhile, the PTI chief inaugurated the central media cell in the provincial capital, while party’s information team and other party leaders attended the ceremony.
In a meeting with senior party leaders, Imran Khan discussed the contours of the membership drive and intra-party polls.
Senior party leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Javed Hashmi, Aleem Khan, Ijaz Chaudhary, Dr Arif Alvi, Sardar Ghulam Abbas, Shafqat Mehmmod and Asif Ahmed Ali attended the meeting.
