KARACHI - Metropolitan Commissioner KMC Matanat Ali Khan has said mutual cooperation and coordination with brother Islamic country Iran underway for solid waste management, bus rapid transport system and modern slaughterhouse system.He expressed these views in a meeting with the Iranian Consul General Abbas Ali Abdullahi who called on him in his office. Matanat Ali Khan said solid waste management and bus rapid transport system was successfully run in Iranian city Mashhad and the technical team will soon submit its report for implementation.He said that a complete technical report would also help making the solid waste system in Tehran and Mashhad workable in Karachi.He also called the recent visit of Mashhad Lord Mayor a successful one during which various meetings were held for solid waste management, BRTS and slaughter house project. “Coordination to maintain a working relationship between KMC and Iranian authorities was underway and we should take advantage of their expertise” He said.“STCF raises funds for education of poor kids: The STCF – Supporters of The Citizens Foundation – held a charity auction to raise funds for education of the under-privileged children in its schools across Pakistan here the other day.The fun-filled evening attended by some 200 women was charged with enthusiasm to support and help raise funds for the schools run by The Citizens Foundation (CTF). The event was hosted by Naureen Sattar. Like all previous similar events organised by the STCF, the theme of the event was “festivities and colours”. Speaking on the occasion, STCF Vice-Chairperson Bushra Afzal pledged for more donations to help the TCF move forward with its cause of reaching out to the lowest strata of society and enlighten young minds with the light of education. The money raised from the event would go to the TCF for educating children. The STCF is a group of supporters, who organise fundraising events, auctions and high-teas to raise funds for the cause.
