Paucity of irrigation water affecting crops

TOBA TEK SINGH - PML-N Kissan Wing President Faisal Vrik has said that the Kissan Board will take out a protest rally on Thursday (tomorrow) against frequent stoppage of irrigation water in Khewra Minor Canal.  He was addressing a press conference here the other day.  He said that crops on thousands of acres of land in the district were affected owing to the frequent stoppage of irrigation water in the canal.  “We are crying for water in the canal since last couple of month but no one has bothered to pay heed to our genuine demand,” he blamed.
He said that the growers had suffered huge losses because of damages caused by scarcity of water to the crops, adding the non-availability of water in the canal was rapidly transforming their fertile lands into barren tracts. He said that the farmers could not bear losses anymore.
