RAHIM YAR KHAN - The license of Rahim Yar Khan Chamber of Commerce and Industry could not be renewed due to negligence and irresponsibility of the chamber administration, disclosed the former president of the RYKCCI .
Now the credibility of the largest chamber of the Southern Punjab is at stake and it has lost its present capacity and has also been excluded from gazette list of Director General Trade Organization (DGTO), added Abdul Rauf Mukhtar and executive members of RYKCCI Shafiq Aleem and Shoukat Hayat while talking to the media.
Mukhtar said that the registration process of the RYKCCI completed on May 12, 2009, the DGTO issued the license for three years and the chamber became the largest chamber of Southern Punjab in a very short period. He added that on May 12, 2012, the limit of license of RYKCCI expired and it could not be renewed. The RYKCCI administration has now appealed for the renewal of the license to secretary commerce without taking the executive committee in confidence. The reference number of appeal is 2,735 and this appeal is to be decided yet. In case of approval secretary commerce will decide the issue.
They alleged that other irregularities are also formed in RYKCCI . They added that a member of RYKCCI Abdul, Ghaffar Anjum, has filed application to DGTO in which he disclosed that the RYKCCI administration rejected a quotation of Rs 75 per issue of RYKCCI news letter from a firm MHN COMMUNICATIONS Lahore and a blue eyed local firm was granted approval of news letter against Rs 116 per issue. Bue, they added, the RYKCCI administration had published 1,600 copies of news letter but actually it paid the bill of 2,470 copies to the publishing firm.
They said that that RYKCCI administration has not finalised the list of members yet due to which there is ambiguity among members. The renewal of membership process was completed on March 31, 2012, but the list of members has not been finalised yet. They further alleged that the RYKCCI Founders Group was in power for last three years and this group arranged all annual general meetings in the local factories instead of RYKCCI building and personal friends were also invited in these meetings.
They said that the RYKCCI administration used funds of millions of rupees on advertisements at the occasion of the prime minister and chief minister’s visits to Rahim Yar Khan.
When contacted, DGTO Office Islamabad spokesperson Javaid Qureshi said that before 90 days of expiry date of license, the chamber administration should apply for the renewal of license but DGTO can grant 30 days relaxation. Qureshi further said that the RYKCCI had filed an appeal to federal secretary commerce after paying Rs50,000 and secretary commerce has forwarded the application to the DGTO for further process.  Likewise, RYKCCI President Muzaffar Saleem that due to late delivery of mail for renewal of chamber license, the problem erupted. He said that renewal of license is not a serious matter, it is just like utility bills which can be paid after due date by paying surcharge. He further said that the RYKCCI had been excluded from the gazette is hundred percent wrong.
