NOWSHERA - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Minister for Information and Culture, Mian Iftikhar Hussain Tuesday said that important decisions had been made in a meeting between Pakistan Army Chief and Nato Generals, which would pave the way for negotiation with Taliban including Pakistani Taliban.
Talking to media persons in Nowshera Press Club, he said it was in the interest of the entire Islamic world that Taliban initiate dialogues with the United States and Nato. He said if the dialogue process with Taliban failed there would be military operations in tribal agencies, which would bring serious repercussions in the peaceful areas of the country.
He said that President Asif Ali Zardari’s participation in Chicago conference was in the interest of Pakistan and would bring positive impacts on this region. He said that the incumbent democratic government took exemplary steps against the Nato forces in response to Salala incident, adding that the government had not only banned the supply of arms to Afghanistan through Pakistan but also put certain conditions for carrying ordinary items.
He said that the blockade of Nato supplies was against the charter of United Nations as the US army had been sent by the United Nations to Pakistan. He added that Pakistan could not take such step due to which it could become an isolated state.
Regarding the killing of Maulana Naseeb Khan, Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that FIR had been registered against the accused and investigation was under way to trace the responsible elements.
He said that Maulana Naseeb Khan was affiliated with JUI (F) and was one among the opposition leader in Dar-ul-Uloom Haqania. Regarding the attacks on the Mausoleum of Ajamal Khattak, Mian said that so far no militants outfit has claimed responsibility for the attack adding that it might be an attempt to create rivalries between religious parties and Awami National Party.
He also took notice of using substandard material in Nowshera Press club and issued directives to the concern quarter to take immediate action against the responsible persons
