CHICAGO  – President Asif Ali Zardari has called for the creation of facilitative mechanisms for private entrepreneurs of Pakistan and Turkey for achieving the mutually agreed trade target of $2 billion by the end of this year stressing also an early conclusion of Pakistan-Turkey Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) and the opening of the bank branches in both countries.The President said this while talking to the Turkish President Abdullah Gul in a meeting on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Chicago. The President said that we needed to expand the scope of exportable items and exempt ourselves from anti-dumping and countervailing and safe guard duties adding also that Pakistan was ready to offer concessions in return. Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the President also called for the Turkish banks for opening more branches in Pakistan. President also called for the implementation of ECO Trade Agreement (ECOTA) which he said was an important instrument of economic integration. Pakistan is ready to implement the ECO Trade Agreement which has been held up for the past two years awaiting submission of lists of tradable goods by some member countries.The President also thanked President Gulf for his interest in the Gul Train project. Urging an early completion of the train project the President said that the Pakistan Railways would provide full support to the newly-established company TOBB Logistics for operating the train.President Zardari thanked Turkish President Gul for support to the BISP which he said would connect the people of the two countries.
