Islamabad - Parliamentary Secretary of Capital Administration & Development Division, called meeting on Friday to discuss the dengue preventive measures, asked Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) to create awareness about dengue among students and parents.
The Parliamentary Secretary Raja Muhammad Javed Ikhlas was briefed about the dengue prevention activities carried out previously like creating awareness about dengue and its symptoms and the ways to combat it.
Stagnant water is main the cause of the growth of vector mosquito which causes dengue , the Parliamentary Secretary was told, said a press release issued here.
The Parliamentary Secretary was also told that dengue can be fought through capacity building, social mobilization and multi sector collaboration. Evidence based activities like larvicidal exercise and spray have been performed in the past years to combat dengue .
Among the main causes of dengue outbreak are rain, rising temperature, humidity and infected travellers.
The parliamentary secretary took serious notice of these issues and directed FDE to create awareness among the students and parents regarding the prevention of dengue . He also asked the authorities to pre-empt the threat of dengue this year and also ordered a follow up meeting in this regard.
The representatives from CA&DD, Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and Polyclinic attended the meeting. In the meeting the Parliamentary Secretary (CA&DD), Raja Muhammad Javed Ikhlas pointed out the absence of solid waste management in Islamabad. He also said that waste dumping is a big cause of outbreak of dengue .
Dengue is feared to hit Islamabad along with other parts of the country after mid July.
