Lawyer’s son killed in police ‘encounter’

LAHORE  - An alleged robber was killed in a shootout in Nawab Town police precincts late on Thursday night. The body was moved to the morgue for autopsy.
Police sources said on Friday that the youth was identified as the son of a lawyer.
Police claimed that two gunmen riding on a motorcycle were looting motorists near a market when SHO Nawab Town police station, Imran Qamar, reached there in his private car. As the policemen challenged the bandits, they opened fire on the policemen. The police also retaliated. As a result, one of the bandits died on-the-spot while his accomplice fled the crime scene on his two-wheeler.
On the other hand, the victim family says that the police killed the youth in a staged encounter. The deceased was later identified as Ahtesham, son of advocate Akhtar Masood. Further investigations were underway.
Father of two takes own life:  A father of two ended his life by swallowing poisonous pills at his house in Shalimar police precincts on Friday.
The family told the police that 40-year-old Imtiaz was very upset since he suffered huge losses in the business. The resident of Shalimar Scheme (No 2), Imtiaz went to his bedroom and took poisonous pills. As his condition got deteriorated, the man was rushed to a hospital, where he expired later. The police handed over the body to the family without autopsy after fulfilling legal formalities.
FOUND DEAD: A 50-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances at a shrine in Qila Gujjar Singh on Friday.
Police said that resident of Arif Wala, Zohra Bibi, visited the shrine of Bibi Pak-Daman on Friday where she fell unconscious. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced as brought dead. The body was moved to the morgue while the police are investigating.
