ABL donates ambulance to hospital
LAHORE (PR): In line with its CSR philosophy, Allied Bank recently donated a fully equipped ambulance to District Hospital Gwadar in a ceremony held at bank’s regional office in Quetta, which was attended by the senior officials of government of Balochistan and Allied Bank management.
Asif Bashir, Chief - Commercial & Retail Banking Group, ABL highlighted the bank’s charity and social endeavors, which are particularly focused on contributing towards the economic development as well as that of the local community and society at large. He said that in line with belief that healthy individuals make healthy nation, Allied Bank is donating an ambulance to District Hospital Gwadar.
PSDF launches Skills Activation Campaign
LAHORE (PR): To introduce the youth of Punjab to technical & vocational skills education and opportunities, Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) has successfully launched phase one of a Skills Activation Campaign (pilot-run) in collaboration with the School Education Department (SED), with focus on the Higher Secondary Schools.
The launch ceremony for the campaign was held at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Allama Iqbal Town (Umar Block), Lahore. Minister for Education, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan inaugurated the campaign as the chief guest, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
MoU signed to improve PFM in KP
LAHORE (PR): A MoU has been signed between the ACCA, the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) and Governance and Policy Project Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The MoU aims at working in collaboration to address the financial management skills gap that exists across the finance functions of the provincial government departments.
The signatories to this MoU recognise that joint collaboration to strengthen public financial management (PFM) by improving the knowledge base of government employees through provision of a certified education program would be mutually beneficial. ACCA is well placed to deliver this as it is the only international accounting body to have a presence in Pakistan for almost 20 years, with offices in 6 cities primarily providing professional learning and career opportunities to young people and organisations in the public and private sectors.
Under this MoU, ACCA will provide pathways to individuals who have completed PFM Professional accreditation program (PAP) to top up their existing qualification with a globally recognised Professional Accounting qualification.
The World Bank will provide financial support for the project through The Multi Donors Trust Funds Pakistan. The World Bank has initiated Governance and Policy Reforms Projects in Financial Management Skills enhancement. High-quality financial information in the public sector enables assessment of the impact of fiscal and monetary policy decisions; assists external reporting by governments to electorates, taxpayers, and investors; and aids internal management decisions in resource allocation (planning and budgeting), monitoring, and accountability.
FonePay, LUMS partner to create digital payment services
LAHORE (PR): In a bid to promote a cashless environment, FonePay, Pakistan’s first payments Super App powered by Masterpass, has partnered with Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Pakistan’s number one university according to QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2018. The announcement was made at a signing ceremony held in Lahore.
As part of this strategic partnership, all FonePay Super App users will now get access to payments offered by LUMS, helping promote a cashless campus. The students and faculty will now be able to make online payments for various purposes such as tuition fee, hostel dues, processing fees and test fees.
Additionally, LUMS students will also be able to pay by scanning MasterPass QRs at the Pepsi Dining Centre (PDC) cafeteria and at LUMS bookstores.

Telenor Microfinance Bank partners with EFU Life
ISLAMABAD (PR): Telenor Microfinance Bank has joined hands with EFU Life Assurance Ltd to launch ‘Kamyab Mustaqbil Plus’, an enhanced version of the Bank’s existing mass market product. The signing ceremony took place at Telenor Bank’s headquarters in Karachi where executives of both organizations were present.
‘Kamyab Mustaqbil Plus’ is a Shariah-compliant term takaful plan. Offered in exchange for an affordable annual contribution, it provides takaful coverage for natural or accidental deaths as well as medical expense reimbursement in case of an accident.

Hisaar Foundation holds conference
KARACHI (PR): Hisaar Foundation, in association with Engro Foundation, organised a conference here at a local hotel.
Muhammad Zubair, governor of Sindh, attended the opening session as chief guest and remarked that the water issue has become critical and that he appreciates the efforts of citizen based organizations such as Hisaar Foundation to take steps to overcome some of the challenges. Ms Simi Kamal, founder of Hisaar Foundation, spoke to the Panjwani Hisaar Water Institute at NED University of Engineering and Technology which aims to integrate the currently isolated nodes of engineering, natural sciences, economics and social sciences.
The water institute will be the first of its kind in Pakistan and the region, with one foot in academia and the other in good citizenship.
