Lahore General Hospital has started removing stones from kidney without surgery.  Speaking at inaugural session of workshop on Supine PCNL Treatment on Wednesday, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute/LGH Prof Ghias-un-Nabi Tayyab appreciated Head of Urology Department Prof Mohammad Nazir for introducing such efficient and cost effective treatment.  He urged doctors to get maximum benefit from the latest development in the world and use that for the welfare of common man. He said that three successful treatments have made the LGH first institution to provide this facility.  Prof Mohammad Nazir said that unfortunately patients of urology were increasing at alarming rate in the country. He said that prevalence of the disease was high from Multan to Jaccobabad. He said that the patient could be discharged within 24 hours after treatment. –Staff Reporter

 Front desks bringing people closer to police

SSP Rana Ayaz Saleem on Wednesday said that the front desk staff working at Lahore’s police station is playing an important role in solving the problems being faced by local communities. The officer said that the civilian staff is helping police department improve its image since they behave politely and respectfully with the citizens at the front desks.  SSP (Administration) Ayaz Saleem stated this while addressing a large number of Police Station Assistants at Al-Hamra Hall on Wednesday. On this occasion, civilian officers also presented various suggestions to improve police working. The officer also issued on-the-spot orders in the light of different proposals sent by the police station assistants to improve service delivery.  The SSP said that the Front Desk project of the police department proved very effective in bridging the gap between the police and the public. He said that it was the responsibility of the police station assistants to warmly receive visitors particularly the victims of crime and violence at the front desks. He also directed the police station assistants to carefully listen to the complainants and then immediately process their complaints. He said that the front desk staff should provide immediate help to the victim of crime and violence so that the criminals would be brought to justice.  He also observed that the complaints regarding delay in registration of cases had dropped drastically since the department introduced front desk project since all complaints are registered, monitored, and processed on-line. He also hoped that the police assistants would continue serving the people with commitment and dedication. –Staff Reporter

 PHP registers 401 cases against traffic violaters

Punjab Highway Patrol registered 401 cases against motorists for not following the traffic rules. According to PHP sources, a team of PHP arrested seven persons for displaying fake registration and green number plates. The officials have also registered ten cases against motorists under amplifier Act. Furthermore, the PHP team arrested 20 persons for fixing prohibited gas cylinder in their vehicles. –APP

 Two SPs transferred

Punjab Police Inspector General Arif Nawaz Khan on Wednesday ordered the transfers and postings of two SP-rank police officers.  According to a notification, Kasur SP (Investigation) Amjad Mahmood Qureshi was transferred and posted as Lahore SP (Security-I), Security Division (90 SQA and 7th Club).  Similarly, Muhammad Masood was transferred and posted as Lahore SP (Security-II), Security Division (96-H and 180-H Model Town). –Staff Reporter
