GUJRANWALA - The Anti-Corruption Establishment asked heads of various state departments for action against officials involved in corruption here the other day.
According to the ACE spokesman, inquiry officers had been assigned to investigate the cases of 50 officials of different departments in Gujranwala division. The officials were accused of corruption, misuse of power and fraud which had been proved during investigation, the ACE spokesman said.
ACE Regional Director Fareed Ahmed, in the light of enquiry reports, had written letters to heads of various state departments including Forest, Buildings, Highway, Revenue, Food, Wasa, GDA, etc for action against the corrupt officials .
Suspension of the corrupt officials from service was recommended in the letter.
On the other hand, ACE Circle Officer Shahid Mehmood Ghuman raided Wazirabad Revenue Department office and caught a reader red-handed taking bribe. Qaiser Nadeem had submitted an application to the ACE authorities that Reader Saif Buttar had been demanding money from him as bribe for the issuance of “Fard”. Judicial Magistrate Hafiz Nafees and ACE Officer Shahid Mehmood Ghuman conducted a raid and caught the official taking Rs5,000 as bribe. A case had been registered against the accused.
Cleanliness plan
Khadim-e-Punjab Saaf Dehat Programme has been launched in Mandi Bahauddin district at union council level.
DC Hafiz Shaukat Ali visited Rasul Lokri and Shahidanwali villages that are located in outskirts of the city and where solid waste was being removed. Chairman Union Council Shaheedanwali Iqbal Warriach was supervising the cleanliness operation.
Speaking on the occasion the DC said purpose of the programme was to provide clean atmosphere at villages. He said regular disposal of garbage and solid waste from villages’ surroundings would improve lives of people.
It will protect people from diseases and keep them healthy. He said it is right of people to live in clean environment. He said sanitary workers would be employed in every UC to maintain cleanliness and hygiene in villages.
The UC chairman and other villagers appreciated the programme, terming it as milestone for improving rural area environment.
