Army launches ‘Prosperous Balochistan’ initiative

Islamabad - Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said on Thursday that Pakistan Army will provide full support to federal and provincial governments in ensuring the success of development projects in Balochistan.

“The ‘Khush Hal Balochistan’ programme is, in fact, the ‘Khush Hal Pakistan’ project,” he said during his visit along Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri to Southern Command Headquarters in Quetta, where the two were briefed on the Khush Hal Balochistan (KHB) initiative, aimed at enduring stability through socio-economic development and security, the ISPR said in a statement issued here.

Command Southern Command Lt-Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa, military officials, and provincial officials were also present.

According to the ISPR, the plan was discussed in details and added that a few aspects of the initiative required further deliberation at the staff level which will be finalized accordingly in the next few days.

“All aspects in the security domain were approved by the COAS. Details of the complete KHB initiative will be shared soon,” the ISPR said.

The COAS said that army will provide full support to federal and provincial governments also for the success of KHB programme. He said that the initiative was in fact ‘Khush Hal Balochistan-Khush Hal Pakistan’ programme.

The Balochistan chief minister appreciated the contribution of the security apparatus for improving stability in the province and the support for the execution of the KHB project.
