QUETTA: At least six personnel of Balochistan Levies were killed on Thursday when suspected militants attacked their convoy in Gwadar district of Balochistan, it has been learnt.

"Miscreants attacked the convoy of Levies personnel near Kuldaan Tehsil of Gwadar," Makran division's Commissioner Bashir Bangulzai told reporters.

Naib Tehsildar Naeem Gichki, who was leading the Levies convoy, also succumbed to injuries on way to the hospital, while a Risaldar Major was seriously injured in the attack.

The miscreants reportedly opened indiscriminate fire at the Levies party which was on its way back from Jewni Tehsil of Gwadar to resolve a land dispute. The assailants managed to escaped unhurt from the spot.

Following the attack, the law enforcement personnel rushed to the area in order to apprehend the miscreants involved in the murder of Levies personnel.

Security was tightened throughout Gwadar in the aftermath of the incident.
