Rs3.33b PSC budget for 2016-17 approved

LAHORE - Punjab Agriculture Minister Dr Farrukh Javed has approved a sum of Rs 3.33 billion as budget for the Punjab Seed Corporation (PSC) for the fiscal 2016-17 here on Wednesday.

He was presiding over 107th budget meeting of the Board of the Directors of the Punjab Seed Corporation.

The meeting also fixed seed production target of wheat at 60,000 metric tons, cotton at 2400 metric tons, paddy at 2600 metric tons, seed of different lentils at 691 metric tons, maize at 600 metric tons and seed for different vegetables at 244 metric tons.

The Board of Directors also approved to pay salaries to the employees according to the new pay scale announced by the government and increasing pay to labour cadre from Rs 13000 to Rs 14000 per month.

The minister, while addressing the meeting, congratulated the MD Punjab Seed Corporation and his team and said that it was a profitable organization since 1976. PSC is providing quality seeds at cheaper rates to the farmers, he added. He announced to reward the honest officers but warned that strict action would be taken against the corrupt ones. Secretary Agriculture Punjab Muhammad Mahmood stressed the need for taking more steps to produce hybrid seeds of maize.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of Punjab Finance Department Haseeb Aslam Khan, P&D Dr. Ahmad Bilal, PSC Managing Director M. D. Nasir Saleem and others.
