Minorities enjoying equal status: Firdous



SIALKOT - Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the minorities have been enjoying complete religious freedom in the country, as they have been playing their pivotal role for national peace, prosperity, integrity, solemnity and development.
She stated this in her telephonic address to the local Christian community’s special meeting held at Anwar Club Auditorium here Friday evening. The minister said that being equal citizens of one State, the government was empowering the minorities to use their talent for national development. She stated that Xmass gives the message of love, peace and compassion for humanity.
She further stated that the minorities were enjoying complete religious freedom in the country, as the government had taken effective and positives measures to safeguard the rights and privileges of the minorities. A prominent Turkish Christian leader Mr Ozcan Jaan and Malik Ejaz Hussain (brother of Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan) distributed ration packets and Xmass gifts among local Christians on her behalf.
