KARACHI - Two overseas businessmen announced to join the MQM at a news conference held at the Nine-Zero on Saturday.
Tariq Mehmood Qureshi and Hafeez Aziz expressed complete confidence in the leadership of Altaf Hussain and his economic vision to steer the country out of the current economic quagmire.
MQM Coordination Committee Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar, Umer Khan Sherzai, Rauf Siddiqui and others were present at the press conference.
Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Mehmood said that until the middle class leadership emerged, there was no hope for progress.
He called for following the MQM chief’s vision to achieve progress and eliminate poverty, unemployment, and promote education so that the masses could produce leadership within their ranks. He vowed to bring the vision of Altaf Hussain at the national and international level.
He further said that now people from all walks of life were stepping forward to join the MQM .
Speaking on the occasion, Hafeez Aziz said that the business community was considered itself orphan, as nobody was listening to its voice for help. “It is the MQM that has come forward to rescue the business community and raise voice against the extortion mafia.” He appealed to the business community to come forward and strengthen hands with the MQM for economic progress and prosperity of the country.
A local businessman, Riaz Awan, said he came from Mansehra forty years ago and set up an industry in Karachi, employing five to seven hundred people.
He said for the past two years, the business industry was suffering at the hands of extortion mafia almost every day, adding that he saw a ray of hope for the business community in the form of the MQM .
Dr Farooq Sattar welcomed the three businessmen to the MQM fold.
