A body of acid attack victim , Fakhra Younus , who commit suicide on Italy on March 17, has been reached in Karachi on Sunday.
Pakistan’s renowned philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi, Fakhira’s relative and other human right activists and politicians were present at Jinnah International Airport to receive her body .
Her dead body was sent to Pakistan after funeral prayer offered in the hospital ground in Rome.
Fakhra Younus face was disfigured when her husband Bilal Khar, an ex-MPA and son of former governor Punjab, Ghulam Mustafa Khar, threw acid on her in 2000.
In her last message before committing suicide, Fakhra had written that she was committing suicide over silence of law on the atrocities and insensitivity of Pakistani rulers.
According to details, Fakhra met Bilal Khar in 1998 and both married after six months. However Ghulam Mustafa Khar was against this marriage.
Differences crept between the couple when Fakhra came to know about Bilal’s three previous marriages. After that she returned to her parents’ house and started to live there. One day Bilal came to in-laws house and threw acid on Fakhra when she was asleep. The acid attack badly disfigured Fakhra’s face and she went to Italy for treatment where she committed suicide.
Fakhra went to Itlay for treatment where 39 surgery attempts were made to reshape her disfigured face but all in vain. She committed suicide in Italy a couple of days ago.
Fakhra committed suicide by jumping from the sixth floor of her flat. She was attacked with acid 12 years ago by her husband.
Meanwhile, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Husaain has demanded public hanging of the persons involved in acid attacks on women. He also demanded stern action against Bilal Khar.
Large number of women also staged a protest at the airport and demanded to arrest the accused involved in acid attack on Fakhra .
