MIANWALI - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has pledged that if people repose confidence in him he will guarantee transformation of Pakistan into an Islamic welfare state as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam. He said that currently the country was being governed by two ‘brothers’ - Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari as both the brothers were in tacit agreement in all matters including the recent senate elections. Imran charged that almost the entire fleet of Pakistan Railways had been abandoned but the “Samjotha Express” of Nawaz and Zardari was running successfully as both the leaders were hoodwinking the poor masses.
“The sole objective of the PTI will be to make Pakistan a country where all nationals will be equal in the eyes of law unlike today where poor are behind the bars while corrupt people enjoy freedom.”
PTI Chairman expressed these views while addressing one of the biggest public Mianwali’s history here on Saturday.
The cricketer-turned-politician pointed out that he had already formed a committee to work out a policy on war footings as how to eliminate corruption that had been costing hundreds of millions to the national exchequer on daily basis. The PTI chairman alleged that the incumbent rulers had embezzled record amounts of public money during the past four years. Mr Khan claimed that the today’s public meeting heralded as the lull before the impending revolution in Pakistan and the rulers could not stop this revolution now.
He said that people of Mianwali had helped him at a time when nobody was with him. “Let the revolution succeeded then the entire nation will be grateful to people of Mianwali”, he elaborated.
Imran claimed that the biggest problem the country confronted today was corruption which the PTI would eradicate with the support of people. “The PTI will build a Pakistan which will be prosperous and where people from other countries will come to find jobs. He further said that his party would resolve all the grave issues of Pakistan including the electricity crisis and make it mandatory for politicians to declare their assets.
The PTI chairman said that the merit would be encouraged in every sphere of life and job quotas of parliamentarian would be abashed. Patwaris and SHOs will be appointed with the consultation of the common man of the locality and political inference for the transfer and postings will be eliminated”, he argued.
Imran was of the opinion that Pakistan was bestowed with rich resources, especially Mianwali was full of raw materials and minerals but the negligence of the government had turned this district into a desert.
“The corrupt lot of rulers has sold the nation for dollars and their personal gains,” he accused. Imran said that the PTI would not allow the govt to overrule the orders of Supreme Court. He further added that no nation could survive without justice, especially in the presence of Zardari Pakistan could not make progress.
Dancing to drumbeats and waving the PTI red and green flags, supporters of Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf thronged in droves to Mianwali stadium which was ringed with security.
Charged supporters were chanting slogans including “Who will save Pakistan? Imran Khan, Imran Khan.”
More than 150,000 people had gathered as the meeting began at 4pm  with more on the way, according to witnesses, as the crowd waited for a scheduled appearance by their hero. “It is going to be historic. We have our supporters and voters coming from several parts of Mianwali and its suburban areas and the expected gathering would be over 200,000 people while 40,000 chairs were arranged for the gathering”, claimed one of the organisers.
The party also expressed concerns over inadequate security arrangements and blockage of convoys coming from other cities. PTI Vice Chairman Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi, President Makhdoom Javed Hashmi and Inamullah Khan Niazi also addressed the mammoth gathering.
