LAHORE - A motorcycle robber died of cardiac arrest at the Mian Nawaz Sharif Hospital in the wee hours on Saturday, CIA Police SP said.
The deceased was identified as Muhammad Abid. According to detail, CIA Inspector Muhammad Fiaz and his team arrested the alleged robber around 8:00pm on Friday and recovered a stolen motorbike from his possession. The police sources, however, said that the alleged robber died owing to the torture during police custody, as Inspector Fiaz was notorious for police encounters. CIA SP Liaqat Ali Malik said that the robber was a history-sheeter and was involved in several crime acts. He said the robber was interrogated when he fell unconscious and was rushed to Mian Nawaz Sharif Hospital in Yaki Gate.
“The doctors of the aforementioned hospital, however, suggested approaching Mayo Hospital after realizing his severe condition,” he stated.
The CIA SP said that either the deceased was tortured to death or the main cause of his death was cardiac arrest.
