ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has approved the distribution of dates, received as gift from the government of Saudi Arabia, among the provinces and the regions, including Azad Jammu and Kashmir, at the ratio of 60:40 per cent.
The division of the dates among the provinces would be on the basis of 2010 NFC Award which is as under;
Sixty percent of the gift will go to the provinces with Punjab getting 3073 cartons (51.74 per cent), Sindh  1458 (24.55 per cent), KP 868 (14.62 per cent) and Balochistan 539 (9.09 per cent). Out of the remaining 40 per cent and 64 per cent would be distributed among the Gilgit-Baltistan, Fata and AJ&K, while 36 per cent is allocated for the Islamabad Capital Territory rural and BS-1 to 4 employees of the Ministries/ Divisions/Attached Departments in Islamabad.  The division is as under: ICT (Rural) will get 237 cartons, GB 594, Fata 1180, AJK 752 and federal employees 1180 cartons.
The Emergency Relief Cell (ERC) of the Cabinet Division has received on March 8, 2012 a consignment of 9,900 cartons of dates from the representatives of the government of Saudi Arabia.
In the past, similar gift of dates from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were distributed amongst the earthquake, flood-affected and internally-displaced people as well as other deserving people across the country on need basis.
