OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE Sheikh Jamilur Rehman, ameer of the Tehrikul Mujahdeen and General Secretary of the Muttahida Jihad Council, on Monday urged the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Countries to pressure India so as to stop killings of the innocent people in occupied Kashmir. Speaking at Aiwan-i-Waqt, the Sheikh said that Indian atrocities had shot up in occupied Kashmir and leaders and students who have special love for Islam were being targeted. However, he said, despite these atrocities and the murder of Jamiat Ahle Hadith ameer Maulana Shaukat Shah, the Kashmiris desire for affiliation with Pakistan was going up with the passage of time. According to him, a large number of people had so far been killed and arrested to suppress protests for independence. But, he believed, India would not succeed in its nefarious designs. He also disclosed that the Kashmiris arrested under TADA laws were being kept in prisons in remote areas. He claimed except Mujahideen, nobody could save Pakistans jugular vein. Rejecting the back-channel talks between Pakistan and India, Sheikh Jamil said these negotiations were aimed at cutting the jugular vein of Pakistan. If Pakistan government became a part of the plan, the Kashmiris would feel hurt, he said. The leader noted that India was strengthening its military presence in occupied Kashmir, explaining that a railway line was being laid there and a tunnel was being readied to transport two divisions of army in Laddakh.
