LAHORE Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned attack on the offices of the Pakistan Muslim League-N in Karachi, and demanded of Sindh government to immediately arrest the perpetrators and take stern legal action against them as well as their patrons. Protection of life and property of citizens having divergent political views is the responsibility of provincial govt, and it is hoped that it would not show any negligence in taking the culprits to task. If the provincial government does not discharge its responsibility, it will inevitably lead to the conclusion that the Sindh government is involved in the incident, he opined in a statement issued here on Monday. The CM demanded that President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani should play their role in the matter and direct the federal government to conduct an impartial investigation to identify the elements involved in the incident and bring them to justice. Meanwhile, spokesperson the Punjab government, Senator Pervaiz Rashid also strongly condemned the incidents of attacks and hooliganism, and advised his political opponents to review their style of politics and ponder what kind of politics they were promoting in the name of democracy in the country. Every person has political freedom in Punjab and everyone can express his opinion with complete freedom. Till today, no one has any complaint with us. Our political opponents in public meetings, processions and statements express their political differences, but we never use harsh words let alone subjecting any one to violence, he said, adding that if the Sindh government and the central leaders of ruling parties in Sindh did not apologise to the workers subjected to violence and the persons responsible were not arrested and taken to task, it would be considered that the ruling parties in Sindh were behind these incidents.
