OUR STAFF REPORTER LAHORE A delegation of Dalit scholars hailing from India and Nepal on Monday visited the Aiwan-e-Karkunan Tehrik-e-Pakistan and said that the human rights are protected in the Islamic society whereas the caste system is an issue of only South Asia. Dalit is traditional Indian caste system wherein a member of the caste is considered the lowest and that has the fewest advantages. However, the delegation participated in a ceremony organised by the Nazria Pakistan Trust and the Pakistan Movement Workers Trust. The sitting held to discuss 'the status of Dalits in the past, present and future perspectives. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab University Chandi Garh (India) Prof Dr Rajiv Lochan said the issue of caste system was a complex one and solution to the issue could have been found in 1857 or 1947. He said, We have to find the roots of the issue. The Indian Constitution with 101 amendments has become a difficult document to understand. However, the real issue is to act upon the Constitution in letter and spirit.
