ISLAMABAD - Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid) Monday formally announced Mushahid Hussain Sayed, the Secretary General of the party, as its candidate for the office of the president. Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, made the announcement at parliamentary party meeting of PML-Q held at the residence of Chaudhry Shujaat residence. PML-Q Senators, MNAs and MPAs as well as party heads of the four provinces unanimously endorsed Mushahid Hussain as party's presidential candidate. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Jam Muhammad Yousuf, Ameer Maqam, Ghous Bux Mehar, Farooq Leghari, Kamil Ali Agha, Muhammad Ali Durrani, Khurshid Kasuri, Hamid Nasir Chattha and other prominent 'Q' leaders attended the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, Elahi said that with the consensus and support of party members, the Secretary General Mushahid Hussain had been nominated from PML-Q as a presidential candidate. He added that a common man could compare between PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Mushahid Hussain, adding, "We will campaign for our nominee." Elahi said, "Today country is passing through severe crisis due to mismanagement, load-shedding and price hike. The PPP cannot fulfil even a single promise and their promises will remain promises." Mushahid said that he would live up with the expectations. He said that coalition had no strong footings, as even they were not ready to cooperate with one another. "Their five months performance is before the people of country," he observed. Mushahid also challenged Zardari to come forward and debate with him on country's issues at any channel so that people could know the vision of both.
