ISLAMABAD (APP) - Minister for Population Welfare Mir Humayun Aziz Kurd on Monday underlined the need for strengthening the ministry's regional training institutes to educate masses more effectively on population welfare issues.      He was addressing the "Clinical Review Meeting" (CRM) of the ministry at Regional Training Institute (RTI) here.   He said that those institutes had been playing pivotal role in the success of Population Welfare's programme with help of its trained family welfare workers, but, still, there was a need to strengthen them in terms for quality and expansion, he added. He urged the heads of the training institutes to equip family welfare workers with qualitative raining including clinical and non clinical to get concrete results of the family welfare programme especially in remote areas. The federal minister said that numbers of these training institutes would be doubled in phases over the next five years and there would be at least one training institute at each division. He also listened to the problems and suggestions made by Principals of various (RTIs) and assured his full cooperation for strengthening of institutes. Earlier, Director General Technical, Dr Mumtaz Esker briefed the Federal Minister about objectives and role of the institutes that she said they were playing crucial in producing trained workforce. Secretary Population Nayyar Agha addressed the participants and assured his full cooperation to redress of the problems faced by the various (RTIs) in various contexts. He urged the principals to expand the scope of training to the non clinical side and improve curriculum of the institutes. Additional Secretary Muhammad Ali Afridi and Principal RTI, Islamabad, Dr Nelofer was present in the meeting.
