CDWP to consider projects worth Rs80b tomorrow

ISLAMABAD - The CDWP on Monday (tomorrow) will consider projects worth around Rs80 billion including rehabilitation of the railway assets damaged during the riots after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in 2007.

The CDWP will consider around 30 projects from various sectors including Energy, Water Resources, Railway, Transport, Interior, Health, Education, Food/Agriculture and Sports. According the agenda of the meeting available with The Nation, rehabilitation of the railway assets damaged, during the riots of December 27 & 28, 2007 will be presented to the CDWP with the cost Rs10,490.504 million. It is pertinent to mention here that rioters had torched 35 locomotives, 139 coaches and 65 stations, damaged 36 bridges and 27 manned level crossings, uprooted signal and communication systems.

The other agenda items includes evacuation of power from 1,230MW RLNG Power Plant near Trimmu, Jhang with the cost of Rs4,339.05 million, Dargai Hydro Electric Power Station Rs3,098.612 million, Feasibility, study, environmental impact assessment, PC-I and bidding documents for 300MW coal fired power plant at Gwadar Rs209.7 million, Evacuation of power from 350MW Siddiq Sons energy coal fired power plant near Port Qasim Rs2,520.2 million, 32.5MW Hydropower Project at Attabad Hunza, Rs11,533.56 million, Construction of Papin Dam in Tehsil Rawalpindi District Rawalpindi (Punjab) Rs5,833.56 million and Monitoring the Sea Water Intrusion, Sea Level Rise, Coastal Erosion & Land subsidence along Sindh and Balochistan Rs650.056 million,

Upgradation of Terminal Facilities & Dry Ports – Revised Rs2,369.560 million, Reconstruction/Rehabilitation of Assets Damaged during the 2010 Floods Rs9,933.568 million, Construction of Black Top Road Taftan Bazar to Killi Sardar Abdul Rahim and Killi Abdul Rahim to Wasab Talab Distt Chagai Rs169.757 million, Construction of 1st Floor of Academic Block at Civil Services Academy, Walton, Lahore Rs140.554 million.

Construction of Model Customs Collectorate at Gwadar Rs2,525.25 million, Construction of Auditorium at National Police Academy, Sector H-11, Islamabad Rs79.46 million, Ground Water Potential and Quality Evaluation in and around Quetta Valley (2017-20) Rs148.011 million, Business Complex ROD Plant (0.2 MGD) Rs345.184 million, Acquisition of 1.566 Acres (7580 Sq Yards) at Sector G-5/2, for Construction of Judges Rest House Islamabad High Court Rs82.796 million and construction/extension of residential accommodation of IB academy at H-11/1 Islamabad (Phase-I) Rs 889.291 million is also on the agenda of the CDWP.

Similarly, Establishment of Sub-Campus of University of Agriculture, Faisalabad at Depalpur, District Okara (Revised) Rs889.291 million, Strengthening of University of Sargodha and its Sub Campuses at Mianwali and Bhakkar Rs1,540.086 million, Construction of Hostel & Academic Infrastructure at Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law, Karachi Rs763.023 million, Strengthening and Upgradation of Academic Facilities at University of Sindh, Jamshoro Rs1,617.427 million, Establishment of Federal University at Hyderabad Sindh Rs1,912.602 million, Establishment of Institute of Science & Technology, Bahawalpur 2,331.318 million, Establishment of Main Campus of Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology, Islamabad Rs644.308 million, Upgradation of Government College of Technology (GCT), Khairpur, into the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development, Khairpur Mirs Rs1,938.808 million, Establishment of University of Education Rs969.552 million and Competitive Research Programme Rs2,000 million will also be considered by CDWP.

Reinforcement of PNRA’s Capacity and Regulatory Oversight against Vulnerabilities of Digitised Controls and Cyber Threats Rs601.33 million, Gwadar Lasbela Livelihoods Support Project Rs3,832.641 million, Replacement of Synthetic Hockey Turfs in Seven Cities viz Islamabad, Faisalabad, Wah Cantt. Peshawar, Quetta, Abbotabad and Lahore Rs591.882 million, Establishment of 300 bedded maternal and Child Health Institute at Shaheed Benazirabad Nawabshah Rs1,11,990.649 million and 200 Bedded Centre of Excellence for Obstetrics & Genecology at Rawalpindi Rs5,316.00 million is also on the agenda of the meeting.
