Teachers assured of solution to problems

SADIQABAD- Teachers shape future of the nation. They deserve special salary packages and possess the right to be awarded urgent leave.
It was stated by District Education Authority Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Malik Mukhtar Hussain during a meeting with the delegation of Bahawalpur Teachers Association (BTA) here the other day.
He informed members of the delegation that the EST and PST teachers, serving in Rahim Yar Khan district, were to be awarded 2016 Teacher Package. Similarly, the SST teachers would also be awarded 2017 Teacher Package, he said. “Ninety percent work on these packages has been completed and they would be awarded soon,” he claimed. On the CEO’s assurance, the BTA postponed its call for protest. The BTA office-bearers, however, warned to besiege the CEO office if the officer reneges on his promise.
BTA Additional Secretary praised the grant of urgent leave to teachers. He termed it basic right of teachers which, he asserted, can’t be denied. The delegation comprised BTA district president Ali Mardan, district secretary Ziaur Rehman, general secretary Nazir Ahmed GONDAL, tehsil secretary Wazir Ahmed Mehr, secretary tehsil Liaqatpur Hafiz Shahid and other office-bearers.
Additional Secretary Punjab Schools Qaiser Saleem, on the other hand, said that teachers are allowed to have 25 days off work during a year. Teachers can have more than one day off work in a month, he said. There is no notification issued by the Education Department which binds teachers to have only one day leave in a month, he added. “A teacher can go on 25-day leave anytime during a year,” he maintained. The CEO (education), however, would be contacted if more than a day off work was required, he noted.
