Hashmi to be remembered today



LAHORE: One of the founding members of Pakistan Film Industry and legendry artiste Naeem Hashmi will be remembered on his 38th death anniversary today (Sunday).
In this regard a sitting would be held at 513 H-1 Johar Town at 5pm. Hashmi played in more than 100 films. In 1950s and 60s he was famous for his role as villain. Later on, he also acted in number of Punjab films. Babul, Bhaian Di Jori, Jadogar are among his famous Punjabi films. He also wrote scripts and songs for many films including Changez Khan, Nigar, Azmat-e-Islam, Shama, Khatoon and others. Besides this, he directed a number of films.
Naeem Hashmi also acted in dramas of PTV. The credit for first stage play of Pakistan also goes to him.–Staff Reporter

‘No channel went off air’

LAHORE: Cable Operators Association President Capt (r) Jabbar A Khan on Saturday condemned those quarters who were blaming Pakistan Army and the ISI on the incident of Hamid Mir.
Addressing a press conference at Lahore Press Club, Jabbar A Khan rejected the blame that the operators stopped any news channel. He said the association condemned the deadly attack on noted journalist Hamid Mir. But without proof, no body was authorised to blame any institution, he held. He said that the act of airing the ISI chief on the screen for hours was injustice. Taking benefit of the incident, the Indian media defamed the Pakistan Army all over the world, he said.–Staff Reporter
