KARACHI The Sindh police claimed to have detained 40 more suspects during an overnight search operation. According to police sources, the Sindh police, that started search operations on August 23 with the assistance of Sindh Rangers, have so far detained over 100 suspects in different troubled areas of the metropolis. However, details of the suspects have not been disclosed so far. They said the Sindh police claimed to have taken some 40 more suspects into custody during the overnight search operations at Bilal Colony, Chakra Goth, Pak Colony, Nishtar Road, Raxer Line, Old Golimar, Jahanabad, Saleh Muhammad Goth and Ghattar Baghicha and recovered weapons and drugs from their possession. They said the law enforcers had besieged these areas and started house-to-house search initially from Bilal Colony and later extended to the aforesaid areas of the city. They said the LEAs had detained 20 suspects from Bilal Colony and Chakra while rest of the suspects were detained from Pak Colony, Nishtar Road, Raxer Line, Old Golimar, Jahanabad, Saleh Muhammad Goth and Ghattar Baghicha. Police sources said the suspects, who were said to be extortionists, drug peddlers and other criminals, were transported to unidentified place for interrogation. They further said the law enforcers had also recovered weapons from their possession. The eye-witnesses said these areas were fully beleaguered by the law enforcers and the detained people, who were blindfolded and their hands were tied, were shifted to unknown place. Advisor to Home Minister Sharfuddin Memon said the police detained dozens of suspects during search operations. He said the names of suspects, who would be found guilty after formal interrogation, would be disclosed. Meanwhile, the spokesman of Pakistan Rangers confirmed that Rangers had detained 20 suspects from Bilal and Chakra Goth.
