Jamaat holds rallies to express solidarity with Karachiites

Our Staff Reporter MULTAN Youm-e-Yakjehti Karachi was observed in entire South Punjab region on call of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan on Friday to express solidarity with the residents of Karachi. The JI workers organized protest rallies in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, Layyah, Vehari, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh and other district headquarters to press the government to control situation in Karachi. A large number of JI workers and common citizens joined Karachi Solidarity Day proceedings. Holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans highlighting Karachi situation, the protesters shouted slogans against terrorists, MQM and the government. In Multan, a large number of JI activists staged protest on Masoom Shah Road under the leadership of provincial deputy secretary general Rao Zafar Iqbal. Addressing the protesters, the speakers said that Youm-e-Yakjehti Karachi would disseminate the message of hope to the residents of Karachi and they would realize that entire nation stood by them in this moment of trial. They said that Karachi was under control of international mafia and a vicious conspiracy was underway to detach Karachi from Pakistan. They added that MQM played key role in current unrest as local actor as their governor was in rule for the last 10 years. They said that no serious attempt was made to resolve Karachi issue as a result of which the situation further deteriorated. They said that the residents of Karachi were highly concerned on this situation. Their businesses are dying. The trading community is pushed towards the wall. Eid is around the corner but the businesses are shut. Traders are forced to go on strike, they maintained. They said that the recent developments in Dr Imran Farooq murder case made it clear that MQM was involved in his assassination. They said that the MQM had no interest in a peaceful Karachi. They warned that a blood-filled revolution would take place in Pakistan if the rulers did not learn lesson from Egypt and Arab world. BZU ANNOUNCES RESULT: The Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan has announced the result of MA Pakistan Studies Part-1 and 11 (Annual System) Annual Examination, 2010 here on Friday. According to the result notification, a total of 1899 candidates appeared in the examination out of which just 147 could get through, showing a poor pass percentage of 7.78 percent. As many as 1752 candidates failed while the result of nine others would be declared later on. Not even a single candidate could pass the examination in first division while 92 achieved second and 55 third division.
