KARACHI - At least eight people, including four women, were killed and nine injured in a road accident between a passenger van and a truck in Nooriabad, rescue official said.
According to the Nooriabad SHO, the van was en route to Hyderabad from Karachi when it crashed into the trailer. All the dead belonged to district Nowshero Feroze and were returning home after performing Umrah.
Those killed were identified as Ghulam Mustafa, Ghulam Murtaza, Shah Mohammad, Ghulam Haider, Ali Nateja, Sakina Bibi, Mst Mehrin and Mst Rehana
The bodies and injured were immediately shifted to Civil Hospital for autopsy and treatment, respectively.
A week ago, as many as 20 people were killed in a deadly accident in Khairpur.
Meanwhile, Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar Monday expressed immense sorrow on the demise of 8 persons in a road accident on the Karachi- Hyderabad Motorway.
He prayed that Allah Almighty may rest the departed souls in peace and give courage to the bereaved families to bear this loss, said a statement. He also appealed to the citizens to stop the drivers if they drive the van or bus dangerously so that lives of citizens could be saved from such accidents.
