LAHORE - The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) on Monday demanded the government to punish those who carried out an operation against protesters at Faizabad and those responsible for changes to the declaration of finality of prophethood of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).  Addressing a general house meeting, LHCBA office bearers demanded resignation of Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal over his failure to maintain law and order in the country. They said that Ahsan Iqbal had claimed that he would control the situation within three hours but a number of people lost their lives due to poor planning of the authorities. They held the minister responsible for deaths of citizens. They also said the government should compensate the families whose loved ones were killed or injured in the operation against the protesters .  “The government must compensate those families whose loved ones lost their lives,” the house demanded. It also demanded that all those people who were taken into custody during sit-in days should be released.  In lower courts, attendance of lawyers remained thin and most of them boycotted court proceedings to condemn the operation against the protesters and failure of the government to maintain law and order.
