Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Sartaj Aziz, talking to a delegation of Chinese journalists in Islamabad, said that total investment under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has risen to sixty billion dollars, Radio Pakistan reported Tuesday.
Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan has evolved a liberal investment policy to attract foreign investment in the country. He said CPEC has become a regional project, which is offering immense investment opportunities.
The deputy chairman said China and other countries can invest in the industrial zones to be established in Pakistan. He said CPEC is also enabling shifting of Chinese industries to Pakistan.
Sartaj Aziz further said that Pakistan will be able to export a number of goods to China under the growing cooperation in the agriculture sector.
He said less developed areas of Pakistan will enter a new era of development due to the CPEC routes, adding that the corridor is giving impetus to the development of infrastructure in Pakistan, construction and development of Gwadar Port, and indistrual cooperation between Pakistan and China
