PESHAWAR -  The Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Tourism Abdul Munim Khan on Monday said that the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa pavilion attracted a large number of visitors during the three-day Pakistan Travel Mart 2017.

He said this while addressing the concluding ceremony of Pakistan Travel Mart 2017 in Karachi on Monday.

According to details, the Tourism Corporation Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) participated in the Pakistan Travel Mart 2017 where it had set up a pavilion .

Cultural and traditional items, handicrafts, Kalash culture and costumes, documentaries, brochures, pamphlets and posters on heritage and history, tourist and scenic spots were put on display at the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Pavilion .

Abdul Munim Khan said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government had taken various steps to make the tourism sector a driving force in the growth of the economy and building the soft image of Pakistan.

“Keeping in view the strength of the province having four seasons and terrain from mountains to deserts, snow-bound peaks to mighty rivers and forests, we are focused on developing infrastructure and building capacities of human resources to fully exploit this lucrative and huge revenue-generating sector,” he said.

Sports, Tourism, Archaeology, Museums, Culture and Youth Affairs Department Secretary Muhammad Tariq, Deputy Secretary Tauseef Khalid and others were also present on the occasion.

The special assistant said that they completed a record development projects in the tourism sector and planned many others to boost it further. “Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa is blessed with abundant natural resources, which make the province a preferred destination for both the domestic and international tourists,” he added.

Besides Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Baluchistan, Sindh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir also participated in the event. The visitors and tourists enjoyed traditional and folk music, cultural items, traditional cuisines and a lot of more at the KP pavilion .

On the first day, a conference was also held on tourism where Secretary Tourism Muhammad Tariq delivered a speech on the initiatives taken by the provincial government and the department for the promotion of tourism.
