KARACHI  - The LPG marketing companies have increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by a record Rs 3 and now the price is Rs 62 per kilogram in Sindh and Karachi, effective from Saturday. The Chairman of LPG Distributors Association Hadi Khan said that after production cut in LPG by 300 metric tons four days, marketing companies have made a record rise of Rs 3 per kilo in a single day. Similarly, the retail price of 11.8 cylinder is up by Rs 30 to Rs 670 and 45.4 kg cylinder by Rs 116 to Rs 2,577 in Sindh, he added. He noted that implementation of 5 per development surcharge of LPG from July 1, 2008, will make this fuel unaffordable for the poor, on the one hand, and be responsible for the downfall of LPG sector on the other.
