No WHO donation for PIC


LAHORE – The World Health Organization has denied donating medicine to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology, saying they provide support to the Health Ministry and departments only.
In a statement issued here on Sunday, spokesperson of the WHO stated that the Punjab government has direct agreement “MoU” with International Health Partners “Donor” for donation of medicines form UK, Europe and North America.
WHO not supply medicines to hospitals, it only facilitate the provincial government, she said.
“Atorvastatin” is not among the suspected medicines and no patient is taking this. The recommended dose of Atorvastatin varies from 10mg to 80mg. If by mistake two tablets of 80mg are dispensed, even then the symptoms are not as seen in PIC patients,” she said.
 Meanwhile, Ameer Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadith Senator Sajid Mir has been admitted to Punjab Institute of Cardiology after heart pain. Senior doctors performed angioplasty on Sunday and his condition was stated to be out of danger. Mir was on the way to Model Town to meet Shahbaz Sharif when he felt heart pain.
