SIALKOT-Three labourers were killed and seven others injured seriously when a guarder of a bridge being constructed over River Chenab collapsed near Sehhbazpur.
The bridge was under-construction over River Chenab near Shehbazpur at the boundary of Sialkot and Gujrat districts here. The labourers were busy in the construction work when a pillar slipped due to which the heavy guarder collapsed on the labourers late, killing Yaseen of Ghotki-Sindh and Nasirof Rajanpur on the spot while the third labourer Bashir Ahmed succumbed to his injuries at Sambrial THQ Civil Hospital.
The Sambrial assistant commissioner said that seven labourers Khalid, Naseem, Iqbal, Sarwar, Azam, Mehmood and Arshad were injured seriously. The Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to Govt Allama Iqbal Memorial Teaching Hospital Sialkot from Sambrial THQ Civil Hospital due to their critical condition. Meanwhile, Commissioner Gujranwala Division M Asif along with the district administrators of Sialkot and Gujrat visited the spot. He took very serious notice of the tragedy and ordered a probe into the matter.
Meanwhile, four accused killed Ilays (45) who had recently returned from Dubai by repeated attacks of sharp edged axes in village Kaaley Haraawan-Sialkot. Police said that the reason behind the murder was an old land dispute. The victim was the father of three minor children.
Police registered a murder case against four nominated accused Arshad Ali, Umer Arshad, Umair Arshad and Zafar Iqbal with no arrest.
