CPL T20 C’ship enters quarters stage

LAHORE - Pepsi Cola, Meezan Bank, Gourmet Foods and Allied Bank have qualified for the Pepsi CPL Twenty20 Championship 2017 quarterfinals.

Ufone, Brighto Paints, Servis Industry and Descon Industry have already booked berths in the quarterfinals of the event. In the qualifying round matches, Pepsi Cola overpowered Raazi International by 5 wickets. Raaziq, batting first, scored 118 runs which Pepsi, in reply, chased for the loss of 5 wickets. M Waseem of Pepsi emerged as man of the match. Allied Bank outlasted Unifoam by 63 runs in the second match of the day. Allied Bank posted 195-8 with Rizwan Aslam hammering 64. In reply, Unifoam could score 132. Sultan Mehmood was wrecker-in-chief as he grabbed 6 wickets and also won player of the match award.

Gourmet Foods outsmarted Abacus by 5 wickets. Abacus, batting first, could score 118 with Sohail Sikander slamming 32 runs. M Afzaal (3 wickets) and M Shiraz (2 wickets) bowled well for Gourmet. In reply, Gourmet achieved the required target for the loss of 5 wickets with Zulfiqar Ashraf hitting 52 and also winning man of the match award.

Meezan Bank edged past Nestle by 21 runs. Meezan, batting first, posted 164 runs on the board with Yasin Cheema and Mohsin Pervaiz hitting 32 runs each and Yousaf Iftikhar 29. Mubashar Hussain bagged 3 wickets. Nestle couldn’t reply well and were all out for 133 runs. Yasin Cheema destroyed Nestle batting line up. For his all-round performance, Yasin was named player of the match. The quarterfinals will be played on Friday and Saturday, where Pepsi Cola will take on Descon Industry, Meezan Bank to play against Bright Paints, Ufone to vie against Gourmet Foods and Servis Industry to face Allied Bank.
