KARACHI Bangladesh , which has one of the best golf courses in Dhaka, will be hosting the first Asian Development Tour event launched by that Asia Tour . The event will begin from January 26 to 29, when the temperature in the capital city remains in mid 20s. The US$75,000 prize-carrying event will be played at the Kurmitola Golf Club, Dhaka and will take the position as the season-opening event for the 2011 Asian Development Tour season. The Asian Development Tour , structured along the lines of the nationwide tour in the United States and European Challenge Tour , was launched in 2010 with tournaments already staged in Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and Chinese Taipei. Since the historic triumph by local hero Siddikur, the professional golf scene in Dhaka has been buzzing with a great sense of excitement. The launch of the Grameenphone Bangladesh Masters is certainly timely as it will further accelerate the growing popularity of golf in the emerging sub-continent nation.
