LAHORE The Punjab Olympics Association has said that the cut in the sports budget would yield negative results in the growth of the nation. These views were expressed by the PbOA president and secretary in a press conference here Wednesday. The PBOA has planned to hold the 3rd Inter-School & Inter-College Games at Lahore from November from 1 to 5. President Syed Shahid Ali said that the government by giving proper attention to sports can develop the soft image of the country in the world. Iftikhar Ali Malik, Chairman Organizing Committee, secretary organising committee Tania Malik and PbOA secretary Idris Haider Kh were also present on the occasion. He said that in the world special attention is being given to sports and education but in Pakistan these two major departments are being ignored. He said that the government has not even released the money for the last years Inter-School & Inter-College Games so this year the association is looking for a big sponsor to hold the games. He said that the government is busy in the relief work of the flood-effected areas. He said that the relief and rehabilitation of the effected people is the requirement of the time but the other things should also not to be ignored. The schools and colleges interested to take part in te4h games can register their teams by October 15. Malik Iftikhar said that the industrialists have to step forward to promote sports in the country. He informed that Rs 2.5 million would be required to hold the games while they are also plans to hold games in the other cities of the province. Anis said that schools and colleges are the nursery of any sports and that was why attention is being given to this area.
